Global Quick Capture (macOS)
Global Quick Capture lets you add a task from anywhere on your Mac without leaving the app you are in. A thought arrives mid-email; you capture it and carry on.
How it works
Section titled “How it works”Press ⌃⌥C from any application. The capture card appears over your current
window without stealing focus from what you were doing. Type the task and press
⏎. It lands in your Inbox and the panel disappears,
returning you exactly where you were.
The same card as in the app
Section titled “The same card as in the app”It is the same capture card ⌘N opens inside
Rymi — the description, and the Project, Deadline and Repeats pickers
are all there, not a cut-down version.
One difference, on purpose: inside Rymi the card stays open after you add a task so you can empty several thoughts in a row, while the global panel closes and hands you back to the app you came from. That is the whole point of reaching for it from somewhere else.
Smart parsing included
Section titled “Smart parsing included”The panel runs the same smart parsing as the
main capture overlay, so you can set a #project, a date, and a recurrence inline:
Reply to the landlord #Home tomorrowIf the #project you name is a shared project,
the task is assigned to you and lands in your Inbox — quick capture never drops a
task into the project’s Unassigned pool.
Setting it up
Section titled “Setting it up”The shortcut is on by default. You can change it, and choose whether Rymi launches at login, in Settings. Global Quick Capture is a macOS feature; on iPhone and iPad, use the share extension instead.
