Deadlines & urgency
Deadlines in Rymi reflect urgency rather than create it. They are always optional. Add one when a task has a real constraint, and Rymi will surface it at the right time so you can keep it in the Backlog until then.
Set a deadline
Section titled “Set a deadline”- While capturing, write the date and let
smart parsing read it:
Renew passport 15 Jan. - On a selected task, press
Dto open the calendar picker. - In the detail modal, set it on the deadline field.
Numeric dates follow your date format setting; ISO
dates like 2026-01-15 are always read the same way.
How deadlines read
Section titled “How deadlines read”The deadline label changes shape and colour with urgency, so you can scan a list and know what is pressing:
| When | Shows as | Colour |
|---|---|---|
| Overdue or due today | the date, e.g. 15 Jan |
red |
| Due tomorrow | Tomorrow |
orange |
| Later this week | the weekday, e.g. Wed |
grey |
| Further out (this year) | the date, e.g. 15 Jan |
grey |
| Next year or beyond | the date with year | grey |
Sidebar urgency dots
Section titled “Sidebar urgency dots”Each of Inbox, Today, and Backlog can show a small dot when something there needs attention:
- a red dot means a task is overdue or due today
- an orange dot means a task is due tomorrow (when nothing is red)
- no dot means nothing there is urgent
The dots update as you change tasks, when you bring Rymi to the front, and at midnight as a new day begins. This is what lets you safely defer a dated task to the Backlog: Rymi will raise its hand when the time comes.
