The morning check-in

The morning check-in is where you plan your day. It puts everything you could do on one side and everything you have committed to on the other, so deciding is a calm, deliberate act rather than something you do scattered through a list.

  • Press ⇧⌘P
  • Click the sun icon in the toolbar
  • Choose Plan My Day from the menu

A warm, amber sun icon appears before 10am on a new day, a gentle nudge that it is a good time to plan. You are never forced into it; it is an invitation, not an alarm.

  • Available (left) shows tasks worth considering, grouped into Due Soon (the next seven days) and the rest of your Backlog.
  • Today (right) shows what you have committed to.

On the Mac:

  • / move within a panel
  • commits the highlighted task to Today
  • takes a task back out of Today
  • switches panels
  • or closes

On iPhone and iPad, swipe a task in Available to commit it, and swipe a task in Today to take it back out.

Your changes apply as you make them, and the plan is set when you close by any means. There is no separate save or cancel: the check-in simply reflects the decisions you just made. Today then persists, so what you committed to stays until you act on it.
